The Story of Ayashi no Ceres

Here is the story line of where Ceres came from and why she is doing what she is doing, and why there characters play an important part in the story of Ayashi no Ceres.

The Story: An Old Legend

"Long ago there was a fisherman. One day as he passed by the seashore, he saw several beautiful Tennyo bathing. He saw many beautiful feathered robes hanging in a tree next to him. They were the finest things he had ever seen. He then greedily took one of them and went back home.

The Tennyo whose feathered robe was taken by the fisherman couldn't go back into Heaven. She went to the fisherman's home and pleaded for robe, but the fisherman pretended that he knew nothing. The Tennyo soon had married the fisherman, and she gave birth to a child.

Many years after, the Tennyo finally knew where the fisherman kept her feathered robe by hearing a song that her child was singing. She took back her gossamer robe and went back into Heaven. Doing this she left behind her husband and child..."

The Story: A Future Foretold

"You were born under the influence of a star of darkness... I see blood, anger, and suffering. The balance of this world will be destroyed. Upon the day of the arrival of the 16th star and moon, you shall meet your destiny. Whether in light or darkness, the great power deep within your soul will rise to the surface."

Ayashi no Ceres is about a celestial being named Ceres. Her hagoromo (celestial robe) was stolen by a fisherman of the Mikage family thousands of years ago, and that began Cere's hatred for the family. It has lasted through the many generations of decendants of her blood. Now, 3000 years later, Ceres may be dead but her descendant Aya, still lives. And Aya's twin brother, Aki, just happens to be the descendant of the Mikage fisherman who stole the hagoromo 3000 years before.

On Aya and Aki's 16th birthday, the signs emerge that Aki is the Mikage's descendant and that Aya is Ceres' descendant. Because of this, the Mikage family wants to kill Aya to help protect their family and Aki.

From this point on Aya is on the run, being hunted by her family. They believe that if she is not killed that the being or Tennyo will destroy every remaining member of the Mikage family. Aya must do all she can to keep herself safe from those that wish her dead, and those that wish to use her for their twisted purposes. Those in her family wish to use her blood to help create a line of perfect beings to help populate the earth.

She must also watch herself when in the presence of her brother Aki. He is the reincarnation of the Tennyos enemy, Shisu. When they are together, Ceres comes out and is sometimes confronted by Shisu, and it seems that he is not an all together nice man. Ceres will destroy all in her path to recieve what belongs to her, her feathered robe, the hagoromo. Will Aya and Aki survive their lives with the stress that has been put on their shoulders because of a 3000 year old legend? Or will they all perish under the destruction of Cere's wrath in her attempt to retrieve her robe? Who will ever know...
