Aya Mikage is the determined, moody, and comical 15 year old twin sister of Aki Mikage. She is usually blunt and not afraid to speak her mind. She comes across as a carefree and sweet girl. She usually will be found at karaoke bars thinking she is the next Namie Amuro or fighting with Aki. She wanted some excitement in her life because she was growing tired of the boring, everyday doldrums. Funny thing is one should always be careful what they ask for...

When the story begins Aya is shown getting her fortune read by a fortune teller. The woman tells her of the day when the 16th star and moon come together. It will bring the destruction of the balance of everything. Aya pretty much disregards this proclaiming it to be more or less silly nonsense, and afterwards her friends take her to a karaoke bar where she proceeds to act as if nothing is bothering her. Aya sings a song and later everyone leaves to go home.

You could say destiny has an odd way of playing out... When a woman gets her purse stolen Aya runs off chasing the theif to get it back. She bumps into him and the purse goes flying through the air. Aya chases after the purse and jumps up to grab it. The result of this being Aya toppling over the edge of an overpass. As she is falling through the air she begins to see strange memories inside her head which could be described as flashbacks of things blocked from her memory. The repressed memories leave Aya more than a little confused and bothered. One of the many things Aya begins to ponder is how she managed to float to the ground after falling off an overpass into oncoming traffic and come out of it without so much as a scratch. A stranger happens to save her life from a car. Just so happens this was part of her fortune told by the fortune teller at the start of the story.

Destiny further sets the story in motion the next day. Aya's life is happy and she is contented living with her brother and friends. On their 16th birthday at her grandfather's it is discovered that Aya is the reincarnation of Ceres, a Tennyo from 3000 years ago. In a huge dining room where every member of the Mikage family is seated a box is handed to Aya and Aki. Aya is pretty nervous about opening the box as her grandfather suggests so Aki takes it from her and proceeds to open it. Inside lies the hand of a decayed member of the Mikage family. This causes Aya to have more bizarre flashbacks. Aya's powers are awoken and she destroys the hand. When the flashbacks finally cease Aki is next to her slashed and bleeding. It's at this very moment that Aya is told that her family is out to kill her because of the danger she poses to the Mikage family.

Ceres happens to be the mother of the Mikage family. Aki on the other hand is the reincarnation of her enemy, Shisu, the father of the Mikage family. Shisu stole her fabled robe and kept her from returning to heaven. Accepting this fate she became his wife and bore his children. This was merely the start of the Mikage family lineage.

Ceres takes the body of every generation of Mikage daughters on their 16th birthday. By the time we get to when Ceres takes over Aya's body at her 16th birthday things are a bit different. Most of her family wish her dead to save the Mikage lineage from being killed off. Others wish her alive so that they can treat her more or less as a lab rat by placing her in experiments to attempt to create the perfect human race. It's at this point you realize sometimes it would be wise to watch just what you ask for because you may in fact get it. In Aya's case life will never again be boring or everyday.
